"Your Health, Our Priority, Keeping You Informed and Well"

We are delighted to bring you our first edition of "The Healthy Pulse," your trusted source for updates and insights. In this edition, we have carefully combined a range of topics to keep you informed and empowered on your journey towards optimal health and well-being.

Firstly, a warm welcome to all our new patients who have recently joined our practice! We are thrilled to have you as part of our community and look forward to providing you with exceptional care.

We would also like to say a big thank you to our long-time patients for being a valued part of our community and for bearing with us during the extensive surgery refurbishment works. We look forward to sharing further updates with you as we continue to support you in achieving your health goals.

Penrhyn surgery updates

We would like to share some exciting news with you about the refurbishments and enhancements to services which have happened at our surgery over the past 18 months. This is all part of our unwavering commitment to delivering high quality accessible care to all our patients.

1. Cloud Based Telephony (CBT): We have installed a brand-new telephone system, otherwise known as Cloud Based Telephony (CBT) in February this year.

Through this system we can:
•    Monitor the phone queues and respond appropriately, which means shorter telephone queues.
•    Offer a call back service, for those patients who request it. (This means you don't have to wait on a queue if you are unable to do so)
•    Improve your overall experience of phoning the surgery.

Guess what, our recent April telephone survey results revealed that 75% of users reported satisfaction with the service so far.

2. Klinik: Klinik our online routine appointments portal is now open every day and for longer periods. The portal is open from 11am to 2pm every day (except on Thursdays when it is open between 11am and 12pm). You can use this portal to book routine non-urgent appointments. E.g.- appointments with nurses, request results of investigations, book smears, child immunisations, administrative issues etc.

Please use this link to access the Klinik portal.

3. Consultation Rooms: We are delighted to inform you that we have doubled the number of our consultation rooms from 5 to 10. Seven of these newly added rooms are on the ground floor. These spacious rooms are now more accessible, catering to wheelchair users and individuals with mobility concerns. The increased number of rooms also means we can employ more staff and offer you more appointments.

4. New Toilets: We are excited to share a significant improvement in our commitment to accessibility – the installation of brand-new disabled access toilets at The Penrhyn surgery! These new additions reflect our ongoing dedication to creating a welcoming environment for everyone in our community.

5. Buggy Parking Now Available: Unfortunately, after a thorough risk assessment we are no longer able to accommodate buggies, scooters, prams and such like into the surgery premises. The only exception are for patients who require the use of wheelchairs/mobility aids. We do have to prioritise infection control, health and safety and fire safety for all our staff and all our patients. Your understanding in this matter is appreciated as we work to ensure the safety of all patients and staff. However, we do understand that navigating healthcare appointments with little ones can sometimes be challenging which is why we have implemented dedicated parking spaces for buggies, making it easier for you to store them while you attend your appointments. Our goal is to make your visit to The Penrhyn Surgery as smooth and stress-free as possible, and we hope that this new amenity will help make your experience more convenient.

6. Expanding Our Team: Welcoming More Clinicians to the Surgery: We are also growing in staff members, and we are welcoming more clinicians to our team. The addition of new clinicians means increased availability and more options for appointments, allowing us to better serve the healthcare needs of our patients. Whether you need a routine check-up, specialised care, or urgent medical attention, our expanded team is here to provide you with the quality care you deserve. The team includes GPs, trainee GPs, nurses, mental health nurses, ANP (Advanced Nurse Practitioners), social prescribers, physiotherapists and pharmacists. This enhancement allows us to provide a broader range of services and expertise to better meet your healthcare needs.

Health Spotlight

  1. Mental Health Matters: Your mental well-being is just as important as your physical health. 2. NHS Health Checks Now Available with Our Healthcare Assistants (HCAs): NHS Health Checks are a comprehensive assessment designed to help you understand your current health status and identify any potential risks or areas for improvement. By undergoing an NHS Health Check, you will receive valuable insights into your cardiovascular health, including your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and more.
